BeautifulPlaces is case study subject at MIT’s Sloan School of Management

March 8th, 2005

BeautifulPlaces, a Wine Country-based lodging company that manages high-end Napa and Sonoma home rentals to vacation travelers, was recently the subject a business case study at MIT Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA.

The study, "Strategic Market Segmentation Analysis and Positioning Statement for BeautifulPlaces," was submitted by four students at the school. The paper discussed BP’s customer segments and their revenue-generating potential.

The case study, which earned an A, named "Epicurean Travelers" and "Affluent Baby Boomer Groups" as the most attractive market segments" for BP in the $117.6 million Napa and Sonoma lodging market.

The study noted that by offering concierge services and by encouraging families or groups of friends to split the cost of rentals, BP makes an especially strong appeal to both segments.

BeautifulPlaces was established in 2003 and now represents 50 properties in the two Wine Country counties.
